Are they Food Safe? Yes, but due to durability, these glazes are not recommended for food surfaces.
These glazes can be fired in a normal medium-speed firing with no special cooling schedule required. To take this glaze to the next level, use a controlled cooling scheduled for increased crystal growth
Cone 5 = 1184 °C (at 150°C/hour for the final 100°C of firing) / 2201°F ( at 270°F/hour in the final 200°F of firing)
Cone 6 = 1241°C (at 150°C/hour for the final 100°C of firing) / 2266°F ( at 270°F/hour in the final 200°F of firing)

Number of Coats? 4 coats

Food safe? Yes, but due to durability, these glazes are not recommended for food surfaces.
Do they require a special firing? Nope! The Cosmos glazes were designed to develop crystals without any special firing program. A simple cone 5 or cone 6 firing at medium speed, no hold will produce crystal growth. You can use a controlled cooling schedule for increased crystal growth if desired.
Tips & Tricks
The Cosmos glazes are very fluid and may run. we recommend leaving some area around the foot of a piece unglazed to allow the glaze to move when fired. Strong horizontal texture at the bottom of a piece can also assist with this.
To protect your kiln shelves, you can place pieces on extra pieces of soft brick if available.
